Tiwan Storm

The Taiwan storm was a chance for us to learn in class about various things like what humans and the environment work. And how the environment affects our land when humans cant do anything. I'm going to tell you that the environment is much stronger than you think and is so much more capable than just keeping us alive.

This Photo here is what destruction the typhoon caused in Taiwan. You might ask what is the difference in a hurricane and typhoon well that's one of the thing i will answer. A hurricane is a big swirl of warm and cold wind off the ocean which Australia's coast gets and and typhoons are a combination of lots and lots of rain and wind. Japan often gets them.
The typhoon made us think about mud slides, floods, hurricanes and many more things but they all relate to one thing the ENVIRONMENT! The environment has many natural disaster's like droughts, floods, bush fires, hurricanes, typhoons and tsunamies and now we know that the enviroment is cabable of deaths, injuries and broken hearts.
People who lived in Taiwan at the bottom of the mountain had no idea how a mud slide could start. The earth is suck to the mountain but when there is 2 meters of rain the water lifts the earth of the mountain and down to those farms and villages.
The Taiwan tragedy may be sad but it is a learning experience for a lot of us.

  1. Zoe, this is a pretty good writing about Morakot. You've addressed the learnings we tried to pull out of the natural disaster, and you did a fair job of describing them. I always feel bad when we look at someone else's misfortune in an academic way, but it is a good way to learn.
